The Cornwall, Dorset or Somerset Tour
Whilst Devon is where Unique Devon Tours and its guides, Alex and Mark, are from, we can't deny that we have some beautiful and interesting counties around us, with their own unique stories to tell, as well as unique landscapes, characters and histories. As a result, we have visited Cornwall, Dorset and Somerset many times for day trips, longer holidays, and of course for the purpose of showing our guests around.
In Cornwall we can take you to Poldark and Doc Martin locations, including charming Port Isaac. We will introduce you to the tin mining industry that has such a strong heritage in this area that it has UNESCO World Heritage status, along with West Devon. Or perhaps we you can take you to see some of the beautiful gardens, beaches and coves that Cornwall is famous for.
In Dorset, we can take you fossil hunting at Charmouth in the heart of the Jurassic Coast, another important UNESCO World Heritage area. There's the fabulous tank museum as Bossington, arguably the most impressive tank museum in the World, or how about visiting the Swannery at Abbotsbury, where they have the largest colony of swans in the World?
In Somerset, we enjoy taking guests to Glastonbury, a quirky and intriguing town, where a mix of history and culture blends with mythology and magic. The ruined abbey makes for a fabulous visit, where the costumed guides bring the history to life. A walk up to the top of Glastonbury Tor offers one of the most incredible views in the southwest of England. Just exploring the streets and shops is fun, as this town really is a bit different. On the other hand, the city of Wells (England's smallest city) is nearby, and offers a very different flavour - more traditional, a magnificent cathedral, and some fabulous old buildings (including Vicars Close, the oldest purely residential street in Europe), it combines perfectly with a visit to Glastonbury.
So, please feel free to contact us to discuss where you would like to go and what you would like to see, and we will organise a special day, or more if you so wish, to Cornwall, Dorset or Somerset.
